Trace Your Genes To Health: Use Your Family Tree to Guide Your Diet, Enhance Your Immune System & Overcome Chronic Disease

ISBN: 1-890612-23-5

pages: 336

What do cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, lupus, severe depression, celiac sprue, cystic fibrosis and dozens of other disease conditions have in common?

First, they all express genetic predispositions that can readily be traced within family geneologies. And second, they lend themselves to specific nutritional and dietary preventative measures -- all based on a clear understanding of who is at risk, what dietary and environmental factors are likely to trigger the conditions, and what specific nutrients can help to fortify the immune system against these conditions.

Trace Your Genes To Health offers hope to millions through its comprehensive approach to understanding medical genetics through family tree health diagrams and its dietary/nutritional protocols that relate to numerous common conditions that can typically be prevented, or at least carefully managed.

Read this book yourself. Share it with family members. Share it with your doctor -- or your patients! You may save a life -- perhaps even your own!

At last, here it is. Dr. Reading adds an exciting new dimension to orthomolecular medicine. This is genetic counseling which surpasses any genetic counseling currently being offered at some medical schools. This first book on genetic sleuthing and treatment will be one of the classics of our time.

EXCERPT

Trace Your Genes to Health

Consequently, if grain allergies are in your family tree, it's important to establish whether thyroid disorders, diabetes, pernicious anemia and SLE are in there with them.

However, that may not be quite as easy as it sounds.

We've noted on a number of occasions that thyroid disorders, pernicious anemia and SLE are all notorious for being misdiagnosed or missed altogether. Diabetes is less frequently overlooked these days, although it often was in the past. It's possible that these conditions may have occurred in your family, but have never been diagnosed by name. That makes it a little harder to put them in your family tree. Harder, but by no means impossible, if they have visited your family, they'll have left behind clear signs of their presence.

Or take thyroid disorders. Are there, or have there been, people in your family who are overweight and tend to be sluggish and depressed, with deep voices, high blood pressure and varicose veins? If so, you have good reason to suspect undiagnosed thyroid disorders, especially if any of those people also became demented, or if dementias have appeared elsewhere in your family.

Other possible pointers to thyroid trouble include symptoms and signs like poor memory, sallow complexion, coarse features, early deafness, heavy and painful periods in women, cold hands and carpal tunnel syndrome (pains in the wrist). Once again, the combination of those things and grain allergies in your family tree sound a definite dementia warning. In a moment, we'll discuss how you can effectively respond to it.
